Alex was a very much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew,cousin and friend.
Alex was such a stunner he had a huge gorjus smile and big beautiful brown eyes. He was the best
brother in the world and i love him so much.
Alex went out to play on Sunday 1st May, he went to the skatepark with Tom and some other mates, me
my mam & dad went to my nannans for Sunday dinner Alex came at 2.30 like he had been told. After
dinner Alex said "im going to Toms", Alex didnt go to Toms he went to another boys house. then my
mam got a call on her mobile at 4 o clock it was the police saying Alex was on his way to hospital,
he was in the boys bedroom, and has been shot in the face with an airifle, my mam & dad jumped in
the car to get there as soon as possible. When they arrived Alex was unconscious and on a
ventilator, he had been shot in the right eye. After numerous tests and scans, we were told the
pellet was lodged i Alexs brain and there was nothing that could be done Alex was brain stem dead.
All our family & some close friends came to see Alex and say their goodbyes and the machine that was
keeping Alex alive was switched off, Alexs heart kept beating for 9 more minutes and died in my mams
arms with us all at his bedside.
The 14 year old boy who did this was charged with manslaughter, and his dad with possession of an
illegal firearm, after two trials for the boy the juries failed to agree a decision so he was
acquited. The man eventually pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal firearm, and received an
unconditional discharge, so when you hear Tony Blair talking about the miniuim 5 years imprisoment
for this offence its aload of rubbish. my little brother was shot and killed and no-one has been
held responsible.
Alex loved life. He loved going out with all his mates and having a laugh. he enjoyed walkig over
fields with his dog 'Chance'. He also really enjoyed playing football which he was really good at,
for three seasons he played at Rotherham School of excellence. But loved playing for Conisbrough
with his friends. Alexs main passion was flying his harris hawk 'Gladys'. Alex was a vey much loved
person by everyone, he would try his best to help anyone, and alot of people's hearts got broken
when he died.

My condolences go to Alex's family and friends.
This was such a tragic accident to lose Alex like this. I think it's disgusting now that even after this, there is not enough being done to prevent further incidents like this from happening. Air rifles can cause death like any other gun can and should be banned completely. I hope justice can be done in future cases should be there any and then Alex's death will not have been so senseless.
